Welcome! My name is Jaclyn Hall, and I founded Keys to Counseling in 2019 as a private psychotherapy practice in the Tampa Bay Area. I specialize in a specific type of therapy called rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT). Established by Dr. Albert Ellis in 1955, REBT is a psycho-educational approach to counseling and the pioneering form of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). REBT postulates that people tend to feel the way that we think, and that our beliefs, emotions, and behaviors are all deeply intertwined and highly influenced by one another. Therefore, if we change how we think, we will be able to change how we feel, as well as how we behave, and we can begin living emotionally healthier lives. 

REBT promotes psychological health and wellness by helping people to challenge and replace their self-defeating beliefs with healthier alternatives. In contrast to more traditional types of counseling, REBT is generally shorter-term, solution-focused, and present-centered, which makes it a more affordable, practical, and efficient choice for those who not only wish to feel better in the moment, but to get better in the long-term. 

REBT is scientifically proven to be highly effective in alleviating and improving a variety of personal adversities, and I work with a multitude of challenges. My specialties include anxiety, communication, coping skills, life transitions, relationships, self-acceptance, self-direction, and stress management.

Psychotherapy That Teaches Peaceful Living Through Rational Thinking

My mission is to teach peaceful living through rational thinking. REBT is a psycho-educational, collaborative, goal-oriented, solution-focused approach to counseling, and from the moment we start working together, I will begin sharing REBT essentials and facilitate you with applying them to your own life, as well as to the presenting concern that prompted you to begin counseling.

 

As an REBT-based counselor, my first priority is to be an advocate for all of my clients, as well as for rational thinking, and to successfully illustrate that it is our beliefs and attitudes about certain events within our lives that directly influence our emotions and our behaviors. I have invested significant time and energy into my vocational development, and I take my professional promise to you very seriously.

 

I strive to empower all of my clients by helping them to understand that while I am an expert in identifying irrational beliefs and unhealthy emotions, you are the expert on your own life, and together we can collaborate in the development of powerful coping strategies for the plethora of challenges that life inevitably throws our way. As your therapist, counseling is a journey that we will embark on together, and by the end of this expedition, you will learn that you possess the power to create the world that you desire for yourself: it is all within your thoughts.

Compassionate & Solution-Focused Counseling

I aspire to deliver compassionate and solution-focused counseling with sincere empathy, dedication to service, and commitment to excellence, and to do so as efficiently as possible in order to help relieve psychological distress and anxiety, and encourage emotional autonomy. You and I will form a therapeutic alliance, as well as collaborate on the development of shared goals, and I wholeheartedly believe that REBT, a cognitive behavioral, evidence-based, active and directive approach, is the best way to achieve these goals.

As your counselor, my primary purpose is to give you the cognitive, emotive, and behavioral tools to learn to alleviate your own unhealthy emotions, eliminate self-defeating behaviors, and transform irrational beliefs and attitudes into a much more rational philosophy for living. Through REBT and CBT, I will encourage you to live rationally and mindfully in the present, teach you how to self-sooth and relax, help you to slow down your thoughts in order to see the world more clearly, and ultimately show you how to become your own best counselor leading to a more satisfying, fulfilling, and emotionally independent life.
