Welcome! My name is Jaclyn Hall, and I founded Keys to Counseling as a private psychotherapy practice in the Tampa Bay Area. I specialize in a specific type of therapy called Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT). Established by Dr. Albert Ellis in 1955, REBT is a psycho-educational approach to mental health counseling and the pioneering form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). REBT postulates that people tend to feel the way that we think. Therefore, if we change how we think, we will be able to change how we feel, and we can begin living emotionally healthier lives. REBT promotes psychological health by helping people to challenge and replace their self-defeating beliefs with healthier alternatives. In contrast to more traditional types of therapy, REBT is generally shorter-term, solution-focused, and present-centered, which makes it a more affordable, practical, and efficient choice for those who not only wish to feel better in the moment, but to get better in the long-term.

REBT is a psycho-educational, collaborative, goal-oriented approach to counseling, and from the moment we begin working together, I will start sharing REBT essentials and facilitate you with applying them to your own life, as well as to the presenting concern that prompted you to begin counseling. As an REBT clinician and therapist, my first priority is to be an advocate for all of my clients, as well as for rational thinking, and to successfully illustrate that it is our beliefs about certain events within our lives that directly influence our emotions.
I have invested significant time and energy into my vocational development, and I take my professional promise to you very seriously. I strive to empower all of my clients by helping them to understand that while I am an expert in identifying irrational belief systems and dysfunctional emotions, you are the expert on your own life, and together we can collaborate in the development of powerful coping strategies for the plethora of challenges that life inevitably throws our way.
I aspire to deliver compassionate mental health counseling with sincere empathy, dedication to service, and commitment to excellence, and to do so as efficiently as possible in order to help alleviate psychological distress and encourage emotional autonomy. You and I will form a therapeutic alliance with shared goals, and I wholeheartedly believe that REBT, an evidence-based, solution-focused, active and directive approach, is the best way to achieve these goals.
